Congratulations to Ryan Hannon, Cheshire High School Class of 2013 who was named the 2013 Cheshire’s Lights of Hope Scholarship winner.
Hannon will be awarded a prestigious $2,500 scholarship in recognition of his extensive volunteerism efforts. Hannon contributed in excess of 180 volunteer hours to the patient community at the St Raphael’s campus of Yale New Haven Hospital where he worked in several different departments including the nursing rehabilitation facility, the child care center and the pathology laboratory. An avid performer, Hannon has also participated in Yours Truly, an a cappella group that performed at Elim Park, several Cheshire events, and local soup kitchens. While attending Cheshire High School, he was actively involved and held several leadership roles in an extensive array of service organizations including the Student Senate, Peer Advocates, Link Crew, the Environmental Club, Students Against Destructive Decisions and Catholic Youth Organization (CYO). Hannon has also served as a volunteer for town elections for the last two years. Hannon hopes to pursue a career in oncology.
